Margarita Sergeeva is a Ukrainian visual artist based in Porto, Portugal. She received fourteen years of classical academic training in fine arts, with a focus on realism, beginning with parallel studies at a gymnasium and art school in her hometown and continuing through Donetsk Art College and the Lviv National Academy of Arts, graduating with honors from both institutions. Her artistic dedication led to a selected exchange semester at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław.
The Eastern European academic tradition gave her a strong foundation for further development in both realistic and modern art. Alongside interest in observation, research, and finding the logic within visual systems, her attention gradually turned inward. Over years of creation and exploration, she developed her own technique of meditative painting, using calligraphy ink and salt. Many of her abstract works grow out of this process - immersive, introspective, and grounded in self-discovery and sustained reflection.
Margarita primarily works in oil, watercolor, and chinese ink, while choosing environmentally conscious and vegan options whenever possible. Drawn to historical craftsmanship, she often creates her works on aged paper or presents them in vintage frames, allowing time itself to become part of her creation.
